Speaker Bio
Born in Yokohama in 1982, Mai Teshigawara holds a Master’s degree from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Tokyo.
After working at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Korn Ferry Japan, she became an independent specialist in organizational development in 2017.
Rather than focusing solely on individual abilities, she proposes ways to improve organizations through the lens of “relationships.” She is a mother of two and has been battling breast cancer since 2020.
Her debut book, ""Unraveling the Difficulties of 'Ability'"" (Doku-sha), was awarded 8th place in the Kinokuniya Jinbun Grand Prize 2024.
Her second book, ""On Working: Beyond Meritocracy"" (Shueisha Shinsho), received 5th place in the 2024 Shinsho Grand Prize and was recognized in the HR Award 2025 Book category.
She has published numerous other works, including her recent titles ""Organizational Discomfort"" (Diamond Inc.) and ""What Does It Mean to Be 'Smart'?"" (Shodensha Shinsho).
She regularly contributes to publications such as the opinion magazine ""Voice,"" the Yomiuri Shimbun’s ""Hon Yomiuri-do,"" and Nikkei Business Digital Edition’s ""Challenge to Escape Meritocracy.""
She also shares her insights as a Wednesday regular on Bunka Broadcasting’s ""Takeda Satetsu Radio Magazine,"" and as a commentator on TBS CROSS DIG with Bloomberg’s ""MANAGEMENT Q"" and TBS TV’s ""N-Sta.""
