Janelle B. Hill is a Distinguished Vice President in Gartner's Global Enterprise Executive Research team, leading our research on transforming how entities transform their business and improve their operational performance. She is an expert in all facets of business operations, with expertise in multiple industries. Her current focus is on enabling operational flexibility (aka resilience, adaptability) to improve responsiveness to shifting market and customer dynamics, to cope with ongoing disruption and market volatility and ultimately drive strategy execution success. Her research emphasizes a "capability-led" approach to enable enterprise's to adapt operations faster, more easily and more safely. Her research enables executive leaders, especially global CIOs, to advance their thinking and management practices beyond Industrial Age paradigms and embrace leading practices for the age of Digital and AI. Janelle's research also includes maturing the IT operating model to better align with and enable the business strategy, including IT governance.
As a cross-industry analyst, Janelle assists executive leaders strengthen the value proposition / mission of their enterprise, modernize their product/ services portfolio, realize their digital ambition and M&A synergies, improve their competitiveness by leveraging advanced digital technologies, and capitalize on emerging market opportunities.
Ms. Hill primarily works with executive leaders and Global CIOs on their digital and business transformation initiatives. She regularly speaks with CEOs, COOs, Chief Digital Officers and CIOs. She leads interactive workshops, presents at conferences, writes extensively and is often quoted in business and IT journals on digital business transformation and the evolving role of the CIO.
Previously, Janelle was Chief of Research over the CIO practice. Her prior research focused on IT operating models, stakeholder engagement, business architecture and business process management.
