Mike’s career has been across a range of security roles in the public sector in the UK and overseas. He currently has accountability for the security of NHS England’s systems and the wider cyber resilience of the NHS in England, leading teams that deliver National Cyber Services.
Prior to this Mike spent six years as the Head of Cyber Security Operations and latterly as Deputy Chief Security Officer for HMRC. Other roles have included work with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in Afghanistan, in National Security and in securing the 2012 Olympic Games. He is proud to be a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information Security.
Mike is passionate about helping people protect themselves from cyber threats, regularly talking about the topic at conferences, and national TV and Radio. His work isn’t limited to the UK, providing voluntary help to overseas organisations and helping build international capacity in cyber.
