Rebeca Andrade has made history in sports and continues to do so. She became the first Brazilian gymnast to win an Olympic gold medal and the first Brazilian athlete to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics (Tokyo 2020), earning silver in the all-around and gold in vault. She is also the first Latin American gymnast to become an Olympic champion in women’s gymnastics.
In 2021, at the World Championships in Kitakyushu, she became the first athlete to win two medals in a single edition of the tournament, taking gold in vault and silver on the uneven bars.
In 2022, she once again made history for Brazilian sports by winning Brazil’s first-ever gold medal in the women’s all-around at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. She also secured a bronze medal in the floor exercise.
She became the second athlete in the world to wave the checkered flag at a Formula 1 race (preceded only by Serena Williams) and the second Brazilian woman to do so, alongside Gisele Bündchen. With charisma and determination, the 25-year-old athlete has a story of resilience and sacrifice that paved the way for her Olympic success, proving that dedication and effort always pay off. At Paris 2024, she brought home four medals, becoming Brazil’s most decorated Olympian, with a total of six Olympic medals (two gold, three silver, and one bronze), cementing her legacy with achievements once thought unimaginable in Brazilian gymnastics.
