Product(s): Workato

Overall Comment:"The Workato platform is very easy to use and does not require advanced programming to set up integration jobs. It connects to a wide variety of platforms and services, and provides a lot of options for settings and data flow. While the main part of the platform is simple and easy, Workato still provides an SDK for programmers to write advanced custom data flows should there be a need. We were very pleased with the big data options available, such as batching of records, change tracking, subscriptions and more. Tight integration with Snowflake Data Warehouse is also outstanding. My only complaint is with some of the terminology they use for things, which can be a little confusing. However, they did offer us training as part of the implementation so that was all cleared up quickly. Pre and post-purchase support has been excellent. "

Description

Please explain the business problems or needs that prompted the purchase of this product or service.

Other integration solutions we were using was clunky and buggy. We needed something that would work well and deploy easily.

What do you like most about the product or service?

Ease of use, ability to work with a wide variety of endpoints and data formats, cloud interface.

Description

What do you dislike most about the product or service?

Terminology is sometimes confusing. Engineers seem to be a bit stubborn about adding features that might help end users (open to fixing broken things, but less so with usability issues) - for example, no easy way to test run a job. No easy way to clear job cache.

If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

Allow more time for training and orientation before using it in production. This is not due to a flaw in the product or company, it is due to our own scheduling demands.

What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

Do a trial and use their support chat, as there are some simple things/terms that are not obvious when you first get started. Once you learn the basics, the system is extremely easy and functional.

What product or service did this solution replace?

Lingk
Description

What new capabilities did you gain from switching to this new product?

Simple graphic user interface, and MUCH better connector for internal data access behind a firewall.
Description

What existing capabilities did you lose from switching to this new product?

Data set "diffs" that compare records and tell you what has changed so you can take action on it. Workato relies on a date/time stamp on each record to determine which records changed, while Lingk actually takes a hash of the rows/fields and can tell you what has changed even without a time stamp.

Not thrilled with pricing model, as it does not consider volume of data the organization is moving. If you have a lot of endpoints, but not much data, it doesn't price out well. Company was willing to work with us, but still more expensive that alternatives.
