Scott has been with Best Buy since 2013 and is Head of Strategic Technology Partnerships and Spend. His team is in place to maximize the operational, financial, and strategic roadmap of our Software, Hardware, and Cloud vendors. Additionally, he works closely with our most strategic partners to ensure both parties’ technological roadmaps are in lockstep as we evolve our Technology and Product offerings. Since he is responsible for these ever-growing portfolios, his team is actively reviewing opportunities to create efficiencies for the enterprise, especially within the cloud portfolios.
He holds a BA in economics from St. John’s University and an MBA from the University of MN Carlson School of Business. He is married to his high school sweetheart with 2 usually wondering kids (Jaxon 17 and Kiley 15). When he isn’t Ubering his kids to sports or activities, he competitively powerlifts, golfs, and enjoys zombie apocalypse fiction.

As is the case with most retailers, Best Buy operates on extremely narrow margins and needs to be efficient with every SG&A dollar available. Faced with rapidly growing cloud consumption costs, Best Buy found an urgent need to bend this cost curve back, and while doing so instilled a FinOps mindset across the enterprise. This presentation is to showcase the work that was completed to plan and optimize their workloads in AWS, all while educating stakeholders about their consumption costs.
