James Chang is a Director Analyst in Gartner's software and cloud negotiations practice, and part of Gartner's broader IT Sourcing, Procurement and Vendor Management group. His research focuses on Microsoft contract and price negotiation strategies, and best practices for cost optimization with respect to product use rights and licensing models.
Mr. Chang has extensive expertise about different Microsoft licensing agreements including Enterprise Agreements (EA, EAS, SCE), Microsoft Products and Services Agreements (MPSA), Select Plus, New Commerce Experience (NCE) and Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) programs, and Open Programs (Open and Open Value).
Before joining Gartner, Mr Chang held Microsoft Licensing expert roles at resellers (including SHI and Long View Systems). He supported leaders with expertise on Microsoft agreement renewals, optimal cost and usage practices, and also helped leaders better understand Microsoft's Product Use Rights and licensing rules. Mr Chang also previously held various sales roles at Dell Canada.
