James Crocker serves as a senior director in Gartner's Legal and Compliance Practice. James advises Chief Legal Officers and Chief Compliance and Ethics Officers on a range of issues regarding legal and compliance risk management, including legal and compliance analytics and cross-functional risk governance (including third-party risk and ESG).
James has led major research efforts in Gartner to address questions including: how to develop compliance KRIs using business data, how to evaluate compliance program effectiveness, how to increase legal technology adoption, how to improve third-party risk monitoring, and how to respond to emerging risks. Prior to Gartner, James worked at a climate change communications non-profit. His education is in theology, where his research focused on crossing disciplinary boundaries to address significant human questions. He also has experience as a professional cheesemonger.
