Peter Havart-Simkin is a Vice President in Gartner's Technology CEO practice specifically providing advisory to CEOs including start-up CEOs. Peter's coverage includes corporate development, fundraising (including pitch deck reviews), and M&A (both buy-side and sell-side) along with revenue operations (RevOps), and market expansion drawing upon previous experience as a multiple company start-up tech CEO himself - one of which he started on his dining room table, and which went public on NASDAQ. He has held senior positions in both large and small companies in the US and UK including as a CTO of multiple public software companies, as a CMO and as a Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development and has been a member of multiple boards and advisory boards. Peter's remit includes helping technology vendors understand and navigate the technology landscapes while assisting with strategy and decision making. He is also an author and co-author on Gartner's documents including Magic Quadrants, Critical Capabilities, Competitive Guides and Market Guides and in particular, has been the Gartner vendor lead for the Hitachi group of companies including Hitachi Vantara. Peter has a varied business background having started in the mainframe business looking after communications solutions and online manufacturing control systems, going on to found networking, security and ecommerce SaaS companies and assisting various businesses at C levels from real estate technology providers to non-profits. Peter is also a very experienced communicator with over 30 years' experience and presents at many Gartner business and technology events and Gartner Symposiums globally on a wide range of topics.
Mr. Havart-Simkin has over 30 years of business and technology industry experience having held both types of leadership positions in large and small software companies in both the U.S. and U.K. He has worked in large enterprises and has founded startups, including one of the first internet companies which resulted in an IPO on NASDAQ. He has held 'C' level roles in public software companies and has driven and been involved with a number of technology company mergers and acquisitions on both sides of the Atlantic. He has traditionally been the "front man" for businesses he has founded or been involved with.
