Amresh Nandan, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Vice President Analyst and Gartner Fellow. Dr. Nandan functions as a Chief of Research in the High Tech & Invest organization, where he helps oversee research architecture and advisory for industry product leaders in multiple industry verticals. In this role, he is responsible for advancing research and promoting it to solve the critical problems of industry product leaders, focusing on digital horizons.
As an analyst, Dr. Nandan covers Communications Service Provider (CSP) industry and specializes in research for CSP technology strategy and priorities, and also advises high tech product leaders on their product and go-to-market strategies. His coverage includes areas such as technology strategy for CSPs, modernization of CSP operations, enterprise architecture (including BSS and OSS), service fulfillment and assurance, and platforms. His research and advice are aimed at identifying and applying technologies, products, and practices for simplification, competitiveness, and digital transformation.
Dr. Nandan joined Gartner research after 17 years of experience in consulting, development of platform strategies, product management, OSS platforms development and technology implementation for CSPs. He has worked in multiple leadership roles at telecom business unit of TCS, where he led consulting engagements and developed platforms for managing devices, configurations and faults. His extensive work on CEM developed into consulting frameworks. Besides the CSP industry, he has experience consulting in the product engineering space for technology providers in the telecom industry.
His academic research focused on strategic response to regulation by telecom service providers, where he studied the impact of firms' participation in regulatory processes, their strategic posture toward regulation, resultant operational models and information flow on the competitiveness of firms.
