Brian Doherty is a Vice President Analyst with Gartner's Tech Product Manager team within the Technology and Service Providers research unit. Mr. Doherty's research deals with product management across various technology domains, with a special focus on communications and collaboration markets such as CPaaS, video platforms (VPaaS), CCaaS, digital customer service, meeting solutions, meeting room systems and UCaaS; agile principles and practices; and building physical devices.
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Doherty was Director of Engineering for endpoint software in Cisco Systems' Unified Communications Technology Group (UCTG). He led software development for Cisco's IP phones, including the best-selling 78xx and 88xx series, where he and his team migrated classic on premise endpoint software to be deployable as a cloud based service using a DevOps model. Previously within Cisco, he led hardware and software development for Cisco's award winning DX line of desktop telepresence devices, combining low latency 1080p bidirectional media with full Android functionality.
Prior to joining Cisco, Mr. Doherty led enterprise software development at Samsung for their Galaxy S line of devices, including Exchange ActiveSync, VPN, and MDM support; and what would eventually become SAFE and KNOX.
