Charles Sutherland is a VP, Analyst with Gartner's Tech Product Manager Team within the Technology and Service Providers research unit. His research focuses on the role of the Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Product Leaders within technology and service providers. He also looks at topics such as building product strategy & roadmaps, defining product solutions, aligning & reconciling portfolios and leveraging partnerships & ecosystems
Prior to joining Garter, Mr.Sutherland was a Chief Product Officer for several different private equity backed SaaS companies in vertical markets such as manufacturing, automotive finance and mortgage lending. In these roles he implemented Product Led Growth strategies, designed new product organizations, led significant product acquisitions and build partnership ecosystems to supplement traditional build models for growth. In several of these companies, he was also the Chief Marketing Officer responsible for go-to-market activities. During his time at Accenture, he was initially a strategy consultant and then later responsible the strategy for the Operations Growth Platform which involved the productization of business process-based services. He has also led research for an analyst firm that covered business process services and the process automation marketplace.
