His specific coverage areas encompass loan origination, cash management, trade finance and supply chain finance solutions, data and analytics platforms for client engagement, and the use of technology and data and analytics to advance banks' sustainability initiatives. In addition, Derek works to help banks expand financing and other support for underserved clients. He assists bank CIOs and product leaders at technology and service providers in understanding key commercial banking line-of-business priorities and in meeting banks' sustainability/ESG objectives. Derek has an extensive background in helping financial services executives achieve their mission-critical priorities. His industry career started at the Advisory Board Company, where he delivered research to banking and insurance clients through workshops and presentations. Then, at CEB, he provided research-based insights and guidance to commercial and retail banking leaders in one-to-one, small group, and large conference settings across a global client base.
From 2018 to 2022, he led Gartner's Executive Circles for leaders of retail banking operations and small business banking at the leading banks in North America, sharing research insights and facilitating peer discussions about technology and business challenges. He currently supports a diverse, global group of executives, including CIOs, business unit executives and technology and service providers.
