Sr Director Analyst

George Sellner is a Senior Director, Analyst in the Industries Research Group at Gartner. His research coverage focuses on U.S. Federal Government CIOs, technology executives, public sector technology and service provider's product leaders, and general managers.

For government CIOs and technology executives in federal civilian and defense organizations, Mr. Sellner's research addresses government IT modernization, innovation, and digital transformation. Mr. Sellner has been in the government industry for over 30 years, working for various large and small companies, including several small businesses focused on the U.S. federal government, known as 8(a) organizations. A large part of his career, about 20 years, was spent as founder and president of Bay Technologies Consulting Group. His company specialized in providing IT solutions and acquisition support to many U.S. federal organizations, including the Department of Defense, civilian agencies, and the intelligence community.

Most recently, Mr. Sellner served as the subject matter expert (SME) for developing the system and go-to-market strategy of Icertis' CLM solution for government contractors. Before his time at Icertis, he was a Program Manager for Intellor, leading their public sector go-to-market approach.

Mr. Sellner has a robust portfolio of AI projects spanning various sectors of the U.S. Federal Government. His work includes the development of a heuristic AI algorithm for a transportation agency and a neural network platform for a defense department. He also was awarded a research grant for his innovative work on genetic algorithms for data optimization. His expertise in computer vision tools has been harnessed by defense and civilian agencies. His AI-based work has been utilized by health and human services departments and a national energy laboratory. Their contributions to a cost-saving initiative have revolutionized the way large amounts of data are analyzed for price comparisons and other fiscal strategies.
