Jaime M. Capella is a leading advisor to Chief Information Officers and other C-level executives. He has spent over two decades studying the strategies, leadership principles, management practices, incentives and organizational innovations used by the world's best enterprises to maximize value from their technology investments.

His recent research collaborations focus on the evolution of technology operating, funding and governance models to democratize digital delivery and achieve greater business agility and customer centricity. His work features case studies of CIOs whose influence has expanded by empowering and equipping others outside of IT to build digital capabilities in architecturally sound and secure ways. He has co-authored empirical assessments of the most effective multi-disciplinary fusion teams, and the CxO-CIO partnerships that maximize value from digital initiatives.

He works to distill practical lessons from companies' accomplishments and missteps, and communicate them clearly, memorably, and in ways that inspire action and accelerate decisions.

He frequently facilitates senior executive-level discussions, leadership team retreats and roundtables with CIOs and other CxOs. He also hosts Gartner Executive Retreats and Research Discussions for CIOs.

Previous experience

At CEB, he played a key role growing the Information Technology Practice, which was incorporated into Gartner's Global Technology Sales division. Prior to CEB, he worked in the information industries and government. He has run teams large and small, had P&L and business development responsibility, launched many new products, and succeeded in startup and turnaround environments.
