In her current role as Senior Director Analyst for AI, Data and Analytics at Gartner, Dr. Martel leads groundbreaking research and analysis to guide data and analytics leaders globally. She creates thought-leading insights on AI, machine learning, generative AI, and data science strategy, empowering organizations to adopt cutting-edge technologies with confidence and clarity. Her work addresses market trends, governance, D&A financial management and best practices, and AI engineering.
Previously, Dr. Martel served as a Senior Quantitative Research Director in Peer Practitioner Research, driving evidence-based research throughout Gartner’s D&A practice. Before that, Dr. Martel served as Senior Director Analyst at Gartner for Technical Professionals, advising over 100 organizations, including C-level executives and government agencies, on designing advanced AI architectures and optimizing data ecosystems. Prior to Gartner, Dr. Martel served as Senior Data Scientist at Tyler Technologies, where she drove $4.8 million in revenue through price elasticity models and halved fraud detection timeframes with innovative predictive systems. Her leadership in building data strategies led to seven new product pilots and significant operational efficiencies across a $2.3 billion SaaS company.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Martel held pivotal roles at Imperial PFS, Hallmark, and the City of Kansas City, Missouri. At Imperial PFS, she established the company’s first AI/ML program, deploying over 10 products that collectively influenced $3 billion in premium financing and streamlined sales operations nationwide. At Hallmark, she built econometric models that informed marketing and finance strategies, and at the City of Kansas City, she launched a groundbreaking “Data Academy” that trained over 140 staff members and contributed to the city’s national recognition for performance management excellence.
Dr. Martel holds a Ph.D. from University of Kansas, master’s from University of Colorado, and a Bachelor of Science from Worcester State College – all in social sciences.
