As the Managing Vice President of the Strategy team within Gartner's Research and Advisory services, I lead a group of analysts dedicated to enterprise and technology strategy. Leveraging the extensive experience of Gartner analysts, our team synthesizes insights from interactions with business and technology leaders, primary market research, and thought leadership from industry innovators. We produce clear, consistent, and forward-thinking research that empowers CIOs, technology leaders, and strategy offices to develop and sustain strategies that drive differentiated results for their organizations. I am conducting research as a part of our Maverick Research Program focused on this hypothesis: "as powerful AI increasingly assumes knowledge-processing tasks, practicing and experiencing the arts develops a distinct set of skills and sensibilities that will help technology leaders thrive".
Jeff joined Gartner in 2012 as a Principal Research Analyst focused on population health analytics and data science, advancing over time to Distinguished Vice President Analyst on Gartner’s Healthcare team. In this role, he led Gartner’s global research agenda for Healthcare Data, Analytics, and AI, with a particular focus on the impact of generative AI in healthcare and across industries. His research centered on aligning healthcare business and technology strategy to stakeholder outcomes, scenario planning, and healthcare data science. He worked closely with technology leaders at payer, provider, and life science organizations worldwide. In addition he worked with a broad range of healthcare technology vendors and cross-industry hyperscalers serving the healthcare market. Over more than a decade at Gartner, Jeff led or contributed to research on COVID‑recovery scenario planning, healthcare consumer engagement, population health and care management, community resource networks addressing social determinants of health, composable technology architectures, and innovative approaches to global healthcare funding through Gartner’s Maverick innovation program.
Prior to Gartner, Jeff held a range of health IT roles spanning software development, business and technical analysis, team leadership, application design, product management, and analytics strategy. He most recently served as a Program Manager at ActiveHealth Management (now a subsidiary of Aetna), where he managed the ActiveAnalytics product and led the analytics strategy for new provider-focused offerings.
