Matthew Charlet is a Gartner researcher working with Finance Transformation Leaders and other finance executives focused on transforming the function.
His current research, focuses on how Finance Transformation Leaders can effectively lead their organizations through the complex technology, talent, and ways of working changes needed to make Finance a more digital organization.
He has recently published papers on how finance organizations need to change their operating model as they become more digital, how finance talent will need to evolve, and the extent to which finance leaders need to take more ownership for technology projects.
Previously Mr. Charlet led research at Gartner for Midsize Enterprise CIOs. He also led Gartner's Enterprise Architecture Leadership Council, developing research and tools that help Chief Enterprise Architects better manage their function.
Across his career, Mr. Charlet's research has focused on how to balance innovation with keep-the-lights on investments in uncertain environments. He has been able to bring a variety of lenses to challenging prioritization problems, adapting economics, business architecture, and consumer product design ideas to technology investment prioritization challenges.
Mr. Charlet brings a broad range of perspectives to finance leaders, having previously worked with CIOs, enterprise architects, heads of R&D, Corporate Strategy leaders, and Infrastructure managers.
He has also spent several years presenting to executive audiences and facilitating workshops for IT leaders and their teams.
Mr. Charlet worked with technology executives in client organizations to develop compelling research and present that research to both executive audiences and their teams. During this time, he has managed teams ranging from four to ten researchers, all focused on technology leaders' most pressing challenges.
