Nivedita Bose is a research principal at Gartner with a Ph.D. in sociology, specializing in qualitative research. Dr. Bose applies both primary and secondary research methods to distill industry-wide best practices. Her work empowers procurement leaders to tackle major functional problems with innovative, actionable insights.
As part of the Procurement research team in Gartner's Supply Chain Practice, Dr. Bose studies procurement's big picture problems to surface evidenced best practices and practical tools for Chief Procurement Officers. She is currently working on optimizing procurement's organizational design, which will be published in a series of Executive Retreats in the fall of 2025, as well as data quality and analytics.
Prior to joining Gartner, Dr. Bose worked as an Assistant Professor of Sociology.
Her Ph.D. research was an ethnographic study of participatory governance programs and their impact on claim-making, collective mobilization, and contestations within civil society.
While pursuing her doctoral research she was also a Teaching Fellow in the departments of Sociology and Environmental Studies.
