He covers generative AI broadly, as well as specialized areas like agentic AI, multimodal AI, AI-assisted software development, open source models and small language models. In addition, he covers topics around blockchain and Web3.
Ray Valdes has 20+ years of experience in software design and development, blockchain development, mobile app development and startup management. He has been a principal or co-founder of a half dozen technology startup ventures, in the areas of blockchain, mobile platforms, web portal solutions, digital music and computer graphics. He has also worked for some of the leading technology vendors. Prior to joining Gartner, he was Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) for Consensus, one of the most prominent blockchain/Web3 companies in the industry.
His past experience includes head of software development for a mobile platform vendor, helping build innovative foundational technology that garnered 35 patents. Previously, he was VP of Software Development at CKMP, a leading vendor of internet portal solutions that eventually went to IPO. Mr. Valdes has also served as VP Engineering for an internet music company, as well as co-founder of a computer graphics technology company.
