Tony Sheehan is a Vice President and an Analyst in Gartner Research and Advisory's education team. Tony researches the potential impact of digital transformation on higher education and also studies the opportunities and challenges for education clients as they adopt new technologies such as AI. He supports clients in digital strategy development, managing change, and in the evolution of learning technologies and practices (such as learning management systems, immersive technologies, the evolving classroom and approaches to blended and online learning). He helps clients evolve strategy and best practices for emerging technologies such as AI, and guides clients on approaches to optimize stakeholder engagement, student experience, faculty collaboration and institutional digital transformation.
Tony also has a strong interest in the overlap between education and the evolving world of work, and develops predictions, visions and scenarios to help education institutions understand trends and evolve technologies and practices to ensure optimal student experience and institutional effectiveness.
Prior to joining Gartner, Tony was Associate Dean for Digital Learning at London Business School, Director of Learning Services at Ashridge and as an advisor to multiple higher education and startup clients. Before joining the education sector, he designed and delivered a knowledge management strategy for Arup, a global engineering consultancy.
