Vimarsh Bakaya is a Distinguished VP with the CIO Research and Advisory Practice. Over the past two decades, he has advised hundreds of CIOs and IT leaders on their key initiatives such as digital transformation, strategic planning, workforce planning, metrics, organizational design, leadership and recently on human-centric AI strategy.
Mr. Bakaya has spent almost two decades studying the strategies, leadership principles, management practices, and organizational innovations used by the best companies to maximize value from their technology investments. He has facilitated hundreds of leadership meetings with CIOs, Heads of Infrastructure and Heads of Applications, and other senior executives from Fortune/FT 500 companies. He also frequently helps leadership teams benchmark their maturity, provide feedback on their strategic plans, budgets, product lines/service catalogs and scorecards.
Previous experience
Prior to CIO advisory, Mr. Bakaya worked in the CEB IT Practice Research team specializing in infrastructure leaders and then in Tech Sales Product Support for CIOs. During that time, he was recognized as the Advisor with the highest conversion rate lift across the firm for Sales Support.
Prior to Gartner (formerly CEB), Mr. Bakaya was a Strategy Consultant at Marakon Associates based out of New York City, helping CEOs and senior business leaders, challenge and reset strategy and building stronger organizations. He helped Fortune 500 leaders drive organic growth strategies and transform their organizations in industries such as insurance, manufacturing, wealth management, retail and telecom. He has also worked at a Technology Seed Fund evaluating early-stage companies and ran his own technology consulting firm that served Fortune 100 clients such as Florida Power and Verizon Communications.
