Jim is an Executive Advisor concentrating on risk and resilience topics. With over 20 years of experience, Jim advises executives on issues such as ERM functional management, coordination with other assurance functions, governance questions, and risk response. For example, Jim helps organizations monitor and respond to both enterprise risks and emerging risks in order to ensure a high level of continuous operations.
Since Jim joined the firm in 2005, he has helped hundreds of organizations become more efficient, balance risk levels, and improve their processes. For example, Jim often helps organizations create a new ERM program or a new Business Continuity Management function. He leads a global cohort of several hundred executives interested in Business Continuity Management and moderates an online BCM Discussion Community. The cohort events help clients improve their Business Impact Analysis, Business Continuity Plans, and Tabletop Exercises.
Prior to joining Gartner, Jim was a manufacturing process engineer for an automaker. He has also worked as an independent consultant, financial engineer for a high-frequency financial trading organization.
