Manjunath (Manju) Bhat is a Research VP and Gartner Fellow in the software engineering practice covering technologies and practices related to DevSecOps, Generative AI, cloud-native architectures, green software engineering, open source software and software supply chain security. Mr. Bhat advises clients on initiatives that intersect software engineering, security engineering and platform engineering.
Manjunath views the impact of Generative AI on software engineering through two perspectives - Building intelligent DevOps pipelines and Building intelligent applications. He has led foundational work on improving developer experience, software bill of materials (SBOMs) and predicting the thrivability of emerging technologies. Manju launched Gartner's first edition of the Magic Quadrant for DevOps Platforms (2023) and the Hype Cycle for Platform Engineering (2024).
Mr. Bhat architected and designed mobile security and the AirWatch EMM software in his previous position. He was the head of engineering at AirWatch by VMware India Technologies. He joined the company as the first employee and built the R&D organization from the ground up.
His expertise includes building scalable,fault-tolerant,load-balanced, high volume, mission-critical transactional systems. He Was responsible for the technical architecture of warehouse automation software that powered one of the world's biggest warehouses in North America.
