Learn more about the awards

  1. Each institution can submit up to three entries. There are no participation fees.
  2. All submissions will be judged by a panel of Gartner experts. Based on this evaluation, finalists are selected in each of our three regions (APAC, Americas and EMEA).
  3. Each regional finalist will be asked to produce a short video presenting its innovation. These videos will be uploaded to the public-facing 2025 Gartner Eye on Innovation Awards for Power & Utilities website. Failure to produce this video will result in losing status as a finalist.
  4. A panel of judges comprising senior industry executives from across the globe will score the finalists based on a Gartner-defined framework.
  5. Winners will be announced in late 2025.

Submissions are allowed from end-user power and utilities companies only. Submissions are NOT permitted from technology vendors or technology services companies. Any such submissions will be disqualified. Eligible organizations can enter up to three submissions per year for the Gartner Eye on Innovation Awards for Power & Utilities.

To be eligible, an initiative must have been launched during the period of January 1, 2024, through May 30, 2025. Only submissions written in English will be accepted. The project or initiative could be in any stage of development, from a pilot to commercially launched as a product/service. However, note that Gartner’s assessment framework weighs more favorably those projects that are already delivering tangible benefits and results (both qualitative and quantitative).

Read more about eligibility.

No. Any power and utilities company meeting the inclusion criteria can submit an innovation.
