Since joining Gartner in 2019, Mr. Nelson has become known for constructively challenging both client and expert assumptions in data and analytics, helping finance leaders rethink entrenched approaches and adopt practical, outcome focused alternatives.
Mr. Nelson brings over 22 years of practitioner experience spanning data and analytics strategy, data governance and master data management, advanced analytics and AI, finance centers of excellence, FP&A, management reporting and dashboarding. This experience allows him to flex seamlessly across client priorities and maturity levels.
Mr. Nelson holds an MBA from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business and a B.S. in International Affairs from the University of Colorado Boulder. Outside of work, he is a former rugby player who enjoys staying active and coaching his daughters’ sports teams.
