Matthew Kiel serves as Managing Vice President in Gartner's Finance Practice, focused specifically on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance finance processes and corporate finance's functional impact. In this role, Mr. Kiel coordinates Gartner's content strategy and planning on the topic and directly leads the team of experts and former practitioners who write research and engage in advisory interactions with clients.
Previously, Mr. Kiel directly oversaw the general Finance Technology research & advisory team and indirectly managed expert teams specializing in finance processes, enterprise cost and growth and CFO personal effectiveness.
Before that he spent many years in Gartner's Sales Practice, where he led teams supporting Chief Sales Officers and sales enablement and operations leaders. He personally advised clients on topics including customer messaging and value propositions, sales productivity and performance, customer service and experience, and change management. He was frequently invited to speak at client conferences and keynote sessions on The Challenger Sale, The Challenger Customer, The Effortless Experience and other customer-related topics.
At CEB, prior to Gartner's acquisition, Mr. Kiel held roles bridging Commercial, Research, and Consulting responsibilities and worked from multiple geographies, including North America, EMEA and APAC. He led the Australian market launch for CEB's Sales and Marketing Solutions business (now Challenger, Inc.), and earlier drove the new product launch for a membership offering serving sales leaders at midsized enterprises.
